Crystals and their healing properties have been known and revered for centuries. Over the past few years, I have collected crystals that have spoken to me and that, after research, I have discovered have properties that are beneficial on both a mental and physical level. Below, I detail the appearance and benefits of each crystal in my collection. I hope you found it both educational and entertaining! ❤

Citrine

Appearance

Citrine is one type of transparent quartz and is made of silicon dioxide, which is also found in the human body. This is thought to be the reason why its vibrations easily resonate with the energy already found in our bodies. Its unique crystal formation is what gives it the trigonal shape. This crystal is also known as the “Light Bearer” because of its golden hue (which it gets from its iron content). The name is a derivative of the French word for “lemon”, reflecting its sunny and optimistic vibrations. When in its raw form, it can look like a combination of gold and white, and its rock encasing can still be found on the bottom. I prefer raw stones, not only because of the look, but also because they seem to have more energy surrounding them.

Benefits

This crystal has many physical benefits, and it is a great option for an aid for urinary, kidney, and digestive diseases. It is said to help purify the body, as well as providing energy and invigoration. In particular, it aids in cleansing and circulating the blood, enhances the nervous and endocrine systems, and stimulates digestion, among other benefits. It is also particularly helpful to those sensitive to environmental and other outside influences. It is even said to be beneficial for reversing degenerative diseases. You can also use Citrine in a protective solution by soaking it in a container of water, then sprinkle the water around your space to clear negative energy.

When practicing magic, this stone is beneficial in dispelling negative thoughts and nightmares, as well as increasing self-esteem and focus. Clear Quartz

Appearance

Although most know it as Clear Quartz, this crystal is also referred to as Rock Crystal or Ice Crystal. This comes from the Greek word “krystallos”, which means “ice”; this is because it was believed that a crystal is frozen water that can never thaw. It often has relatively smooth sides and naturally-occurring terminations on one or both ends. It may be transparent, milky, or striated and is often found in clusters and in a range of sizes.

Benefits

When you wear, carry or meditate with a Clear Quartz, it is believed to open the mind and heart to guidance, which allows the realms of spirit and reality to transmit between each other. Given that this crystal is so energy-sensitive, one can use it to amplify whatever energy or intent they are putting into it. As a result, one may experience an acceleration of the fulfillment of prayers and a raised intensity of healing and spiritual growth.

Labradorite

Appearance

Labradorite has a glass-like luster, and has a unique iridescence that is unlike any other crystal. This sheen is known as schiller, and is caused by the scattering and reflecting of light through the tiny inter growths found in this stone. This schiller can be seen as blue, yellow, violet, orange, or green. It can also reflect all of these colors at once, and that effect is called labradorescence. When a labradorite crystal displays this effect, it usually cannot be fully seen until the crystal has been fully mined and polished. Depending on the colors displayed, this crystal can go by other names, like rainbow moonstone or sun stone.

Often referred to as “fool’s gold”, this crystal is known for its shiny, golden hue and metallic luster. It is composed mainly of iron sulfide, as well as small amounts of cobalt,  nickel, silver, and gold.

This crystal is all about attracting wealth and prosperity.  It’s seen as masculine in nature, and is said to promote action, vitality, and will. It can be used to tap into one’s natural abilities and spark creativity. It is also good for overcoming intellectual fatigue by triggering blood flow to the brain and therefore encouraging mental clarity and increased focus. This makes it the perfect addition to your office or desk. 

It is also seen as a protective stone, especially when it comes to deflecting harm and danger. Wearing it as an amulet or within jewelry when away from home is the perfect way to protect yourself from any hazardous situations you might encounter. 

Desert Rose Selenite

Appearance

Often, the desert rose crystal is a naturally-occurring combination of selenite and barite that forms through condensation. As the selenite clusters together, the mass it forms is exposed to the surrounding elements like wind and sand, and erodes, creating its unique shape and texture. It somewhat resembles rose petals, which is where it gets its name; it also comes in a variety of hues, including brown, tan, cream, and white. It is mostly found in arid environments, including Australia, Spain, Mexico, and South Africa.

Appearance

Amethyst is just one in a variety of quartz, and it is made of silicon dioxide. It is a 7 on the Mohs scale, which means it is a very durable stone. It can come in a variety of purple hues. Iron and aluminum deposits, in addition to natural irradiation, give it it’s famous color.

It is seen as a protective stone and is connected to the crown chakra, so it is beneficial in clearing the mind of negative thoughts.  Carry it in your pocket or bag when traveling, giving a big presentation, or another stressful or anxiety-inducing situation. Use it during meditation when you’re trying to unwind from a stressful day, feeling more anxious than usual or getting ready for bed. It is especially helpful for work-related matters, since it is associated to abundance while also contributing to intuition and stress relief.

This stone is best for clearing all of your chakras, aiding you in your manifestation work. If working to let go of addictions or unhealthy habits, it is one of the most effective tools. Amazonite

Appearance

This turquoise-green crystal was named after the Amazon River, where the first of these stones were originally found. It is a variety of Microcline, which is a mineral that forms in short prismatic or smooth masses. It has a glassy quality, and when polished, it can resemble webbed marble. Its color was once considered to be caused by copper compounds, but it was later proved by scientists in the 1980’s to be the product of small quantities of lead and water.

Just like its calming color, this crystal is all about relaxation and balance. It helps to calm aggression, dispel the irrational, and provide harmony and balance. It has a soothing effect on the chakras and aligns the physical body to the ethereal planes. This crystal is a member of the quartz family, and it gets its light pink hue from tiny pink fibers called dumortierite embedded in the stone. This also gives it an opaque appearance, so it’s important to make sure this crystal doesn’t get too much sun to preserve its color.

Because of the variety of uses and gentle energy, Rose Quartz is one of the most popular crystals to use. In fact, it’s one of the best crystals for beginners. Being the color of a rose, which is thought to be the ultimate symbol of love, it comes as no surprise that this crystal has been used in love rituals and ceremonies for centuries. It increases love of all kinds, including romantic, friendship, and self-love. It also raises your consciousness, promoting unconditional love and forgiveness in difficult situations. This crystal opens and activates the heart chakra, enhancing compassion and releasing toxic energies and emotions that one may be dealing with.  Peacock Ore

Appearance

Originating from the stone Borite, this crystal is composed of a sulfide mineral that crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. It has an iridescent quality and emits various shades of blue and purple, resembling peacock feathers. This appearance comes from the tarnishing of a borite stone (which is the color of copper-red). Only after the borite’s natural covering is worn away, can the beautiful and unique display that peacock ore is known for be seen. 

Benefits

This stone is most beneficial for combating negative energy. It blocks negative energies from entering its adjacent field, so carrying it with you or keeping it in your physical space when at home can keep you from being affected. Not only this, but it is also used for bringing in positive energies. Its rainbow aura assure us that even on the rainiest of days, a rainbow can easily show through.
